All transformation begins with an intense, burning desire to be transformed.
You must want to be different and intend to be before you can begin to change yourself.
Then you MUST MAKE YOUR FUTURE DREAM A PRESENT FACT. You do this by assuming the feeling of your wish fulfilled.
– Neville Goddard.
What is the Law of Assumption?
The law of assumption, simply, is living as if your desires are already present in the physical world. Acting as if you already have the success you desire.
See yourself being successful even if it’s not present in your outer world.
Embody the person who has achieved that success wholeheartedly. How would you act if you already had the dream car, the dream house, and dream life?
To reach success in any area you desire, body transformation, relationship, career, health etc., conditioning your MIND FIRST is the shortcut to achieve that success.
Most of us have been told our lives that we have to first achieve the success, then the success will change our minds. This does not work, it’s why so many of us rarely change our minds. A person cannot rise above, or achieve the success they desire without changing their self image.
About the different parts of our mind responsible for our reality:
Neville Goddard explains that our consciousness is separated into two, the conscious part of our mind and our subconscious.
Think of our conscious mind as a dictator, constantly sending instructions to our subconscious mind. Our subconscious mind, accepts all instructions and ideas without question. This forms our core beliefs, and our beliefs create our self image.
Maybe when you were a child, your parents always complained about money, complaining about how it’s the root of all evil, etc.
You believed that money was horrible and it was the cause of evil. This belief has been deeply ingrained in your subconscious mind.
Now fast forward until you’re an adult. You really want to make money and be rich, but you still have negative beliefs about it.
So, your subconscious, knowing that money is evil, wants to protect you from gaining it. Therefore your brain automatically finds ways to prevent you from having money. It could be that it suddenly urges you to buy something unnecessary, or leads you to an opportunity where you have to spend lots money.
The story of how Neville manifested going to Barbados:
I wanted to begin by sharing a story that Neville told in one of his books, how his mentor, Abdullah taught him how to manifest a trip to Barbados:
Neville wanted to go home to Barbados, but he didn’t have enough money to do so.
“Live as though you are there,” Abdullah told him, “and that you shall be.”
He then said to me, “As you walk through this door now you are not walking on 72nd Street, you are walking on palm lined streets, coconut lined streets; this is Barbados. Do not ask me how you are going to go. You are already in Barbados. You do not say ‘how’ when you ‘are there’, as you are already there. Now you walk as though you were there.”
Abdullah told Neville to mentally live as if he was in Barbados. Neville was physically in NYC but in his mind, he kept living and thinking he was already in Barbados.
Neville was impatient as he lived in the end for weeks but didn’t see results.
Whenever he spoke to Abdullah about it, he’d give Neville the same advice again and again.
“On the 3rd of December I stood before Abdullah and told him again I was no nearer my trip. He repeated his statement, “You are in Barbados.”
On the 4th of December, Neville finally manifested going to Barbados and cash to help him get there. He did this by only acknowledging that he was in Barbados, and not paying attention to him being in NYC.
He operated mentally as someone who already has his desire fulfilled. This is called living in the end.
Note:
Reality is extremely malleable and changeable. It is never set in stone what your reality is, it can change to anything, at any time, at any speed. Life changing results can happen in your reality at super unexpected times.
The law of assumption CANNOT fail you. The same way the law of gravity always makes an object fall if you drop it, if you make a change in your inner world, your outer world MUST change according to that.
As long as you keep persisting in an assumption, there is no way that the assumption won’t occur in the 3D (outer reality).
Your outer world is a direct reflection of your subconscious mind.
The thoughts you have consistently directly impact your subconscious mind.
So, how can we use the Law of Assumption to our benefit?
First, identify a limiting belief you may have. For example, lets take the case of money.
Your limiting belief would be “Money is evil. I don’t deserve money. Money is hard to earn.”
Now, find the benefits that this belief gives you. You wouldn’t develop these negative beliefs unless there was some benefit for you. The key here is to not hate these beliefs or condemn them, since they were formed by your subconscious to protect you, after all.
The benefit may be – I get to complain about money to my friends. I get to stay in my comfort zone and not change anything in my life. I feel comfortable complaining about money since I have something to blame.
Now, acknowledge that these beliefs were made for your protection, and now decide to replace them with positive beliefs.
A few examples of positive beliefs are- “I am worthy and deserving of money. Money comes to me easy and naturally. I am abundant.”
Make sure to really believe in these affirmations and say them consistently.
It is like planting a seed in your subconscious. The seed being a thought, imaginal scene, or affirmations you do. To make it grow into a healthy tree, you need to consistently take care of the seed, give it water, and sunlight. This will be your mental conversations, your habitual thought patterns after you planted the “seed” in your subconscious.
Live as if you are already in possession of your desire.
You know that as long as you keep watering your plant and providing it with sunlight, you can be certain that the tree is growing. You also know that if you give your plant toxic chemicals (negative beliefs), it could prevent the plant from flourishing.
The seed will always be there, but how you take care of it will determine how it grows. You can also prevent “unwanted seeds” from growing, just by affirming that they won’t.
Here is a practical activity I recommend doing that will help you achieve the ‘living in the end’ mindset:
Vision Boards:
Find pictures of the things your desire, and print them out. It could be pictures of a place you wish to visit, or a car you want to drive, a new house, an athletic body, etc. Paste them on a carboard sheet and look at it everyday. Here are a few examples of vision boards:
By using the Law of Assumption, assume that all these experiences and things in your vision board have already happened. Assume that you are a person who already has all of these brilliant accomplishments.
For further knowledge, I recommend watching this video here, it explains the law of assumption well.
